Two Become Stuck in the Wittmann Desert, One Transported

Wittmann, AZ Emergency Alerts was tipped off regarding heavy law enforcement presence in the area of North 299th Avenue and West Peakview Road. We immediately started contacting the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to determine the nature of the emergency. According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was a heat-related illness.

“An adult male and female that was stuck in the desert and needed assistance,” said Sergeant Calbert Gillett, a spokesperson for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. “One adult male was transported by ground for precautionary and the other did not need medical attention,” Sergeant Gillett added.

A video sent to Wittmann, AZ Emergency Alerts shows a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Fox Helicopter landing near North 299th Avenue and West Peakview Road. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office was unable to provide a reason as to why the helicopter landed.
