Firefighters Respond to Large Debris Fire near 225th Avenue and Peakview Road

Firefighters with the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority responded to a Large Debris Fire near North 225th Avenue and West Peakview Road just after 3 pm on Thursday, April 8th, 2021. Residents report seeing flames from 211th Avenue and US Highway 60.

A spokesperson for the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority told Wittmann, AZ Emergency Alerts the fire was wind-driven. The cause of the fire is undetermined, however currently under investigation.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says after firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, sheriff deputies discovered individuals were burning trash which caught a nearby shed on fire.

Arizona Fire & Medical Authority urges residents to not use any mechanical equipment that is capable of producing any sparks and absolutely NO open burning. The Arizona Fire & Medical Authority is looking into implementing fire restrictions due to dry conditions, currently, no such fire restrictions are in place.

The fire did not spread to any other structures to the property and nobody was injured in the fire.
