Firefighters Rescue Two off White Tanks Mountain, south of Wittmann

Did you see the helicopter circling around White Tanks Mountain? Some residents in Wittmann were able to see Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Fox helicopter as it assisted the Rural Metro Fire Department with a Mountain Rescue. Wittmann, AZ Emergency Alerts reached out to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the Rural Metro Fire Department after some residents kept seeing the helicopter circle around the mountains for hours.

“Two adult males were hiking a trail at the White Tanks when they ran out of water and needed assistance getting out,” said Sergeant Calbert Gillett with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in a statement to Wittmann, AZ Emergency Alerts. “MCSO Fox helicopter was able to get them out. Both individuals are being evaluated by fire personnel,” the sergeant added.

” At 3 PM, Rural Metro Fire assisted the MCSO Fox Helicopter crew at the trailhead in the White Tanks,” said Shawn Gilleland, a Public Information Officer for Rural Metro Fire Department in a statement to Wittmann, AZ Emergency Alerts. “MCSO Fox Helicopter removed two males from the trail for dehydration and brought them to us at the trailhead. One male was transported non-life-threatening for dehydration,” Shawn Gilleland added.
