Power Restored After Storm Left Over 600 Surprise and Wittmann Residents Without Power

UPDATE: According to the APS Outage Center, the power has been restored for the Surprise and Wittmann areas.

Multiple power outages left a total of 649 APS customers without power after a Moonsoon storm rips through Surprise and parts of Wittmann, Arizona. The power has since been restored just after 11 PM.

Wittmann, AZ Emergency Alerts sent out an Emergency Text Alert just before 6 PM regarding a report of a down power line near North 197th Avenue and West Happy Valley Road. Soon after sending out the Emergency Text Alert, we received multiple reports of power outages in the area.

“Our personnel are still assessing the damage that caused the outage impacting customers in Wittmann and Surprise,” said Lily Quezada a spokeswoman for APS in a statement to Wittmann, AZ Emergency Alerts. “At least one power pole and overhead lines are down due to storm activity in the area. Our crews are working as quickly and as safely as possible to restore power.” Quezada added.
