Recent moisture allows AZDFFM to lift restrictions in multiple Arizona counties

Due to recent moisture in the Northern and Southern positions of Arizona fire restrictions in multiple Arizona counties will be lifted, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management announced on Wednesday, July 29th, 2020.

On July 30th, 2020 the state will be lifting Stage II Fire Restrictions for Apache, Coconino (south of the Grand Canyon), Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Navajo, Pima, Pinal, and Santa Cruz Counties. Stage II Fire Restrictions remain in place on state lands in Gila, La Paz, Coconino (north of the Grand Canyon), Maricopa, Mohave, and Yuma counties.

Fire Restrictions for Wittmann, Arizona and the rest of Maricopa County, Arizona remain in effect.Stage II Fire Restrictions include:

  • Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove other than in a developed campsite or picnic area is prohibited. Exemptions include persons using a device solely fueled by liquid petroleum or LPG fuels that can be turned on and off.
  • Smoking is prohibited unless it is within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site/improved site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
  • The discharging or using of any kind of fireworks and incendiary devices is prohibited.
  • Welding or operating acetylene or other torch devices with an open flame is prohibited.
